Our theme is a very important part of Orientation Week, as it allows students to feel connected with their classmates and campus when they first arrive. This year’s theme is “Passport to Discovery.” It symbolizes students entering Michigan Tech, and preparing for the journey on which they will embark through college. Orientation Week is their chance to discover campus life and use their new knowledge as a passport to future success at Michigan Tech.

Our theme is used throughout Orientation Week to provide catchy titles for the different events being held. This year “Travel Groups” of new students will be guided by the Orientation Team Leaders, who are referred to as “Travel Agents.” Students will also learn about their major at department introductions by “Visiting the Embassy.” They will become a part of Michigan Tech’s culture as they “Meet the Community,” and learn how to get around the university in a tour of “Key Campus Destinations.”

We also incorporate our theme visually into many of our publications, accessories, and even the clothes we wear. Keep an eye out over the summer and during Orientation Week for signs of how we keep using our theme.
