Tech Guide - Parking

Students Living On Campus
First-year students are permitted to bring a vehicle to campus. However, due to limited parking close to campus, you are encouraged to leave your vehicle at home. If you choose to bring a vehicle, you must have it registered with the University. There are three ways to register:

If you register your vehicle online by August 7, your parking assignment and decal will be included in your new-student check-in packet. After you have arrived and unloaded your belongings, please make arrangements to move your vehicle to your assigned parking lot.

Motorcycles and ATVs are welcome at Tech, but no space is available to provide winter storage. Snowmobile parking is available during the winter months.

Questions: Contact Housing Facilities at housing@mtu.edu or 906-487-2740.

Students Living Off Campus
Commuter students may park in lots 9, 26, or 32. Lot 9 is located near the Rozsa Center, Lot 26 is off Garnet Street, and Lot 32 is off MacInnes Drive. You may park in any of these lots during Orientation, but you must register your vehicle with the University before classes begin. There are two ways to register:

  • online at the Registrar's website here
  • in person at the Office of Student Records and Registration, Administration Building, Room 110

Commuter students who register their vehicles online by August 15 will receive their parking decals in the mail. Students registering after that date will need to pick up their parking decals at the Office of Student Records and Registration, Administration Building, Room 110.

Questions: Contact the Registrar's Office (Student Records and Registration) at stuosrr@mtu.edu, 906-487-2319, or visit www.mtu.edu/registrar/.
