Where are you from?
Escanaba, Michigan.
Undergraduate Major?
Major in Scientific and Technical Communications and a minor in Social and Behavioral Studies.
What are you currently involved with at Michigan Tech?
Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity.
Why did you decide to become a part of the Orientation program?
I wanted to get involved with Orientation because I felt it was a great opportunity to help out the first-year students as they came to Michigan Tech. This school has given me so many opportunities since I came here that I felt Orientation was the best place to start in showing all of the students everything that this University has to offer.
What is your favorite thing to do at Michigan Tech?
Snowshoeing and Winter Carnival Statues; I love getting out during the winter and exploring the Keweenaw and I have a lot of fun carving and creating statue designs during Winter Carnival season.
What has been your favorite class that you have ever taken?
My Perspectives class my first-year which was called “What is Education.” Dr. Plummer had us study everything from Harry Potter to Aristotle which I had a lot of fun with. Also it was the class that made me decide to study Scientific and Technical Communications.
Any advice for new students?
Explore everything…I can’t emphasize that enough. Michigan Tech has so many opportunities, both on a social and academic level that I didn’t even fathom until I started to look around. The variety of degrees, the enterprise groups, the over 200 student organizations and the diverse people that you will meet make this an amazing University to attend and get involved at.
What's your favorite type of music?
My favorite will be the rock music ranging from the 80’s up to recent times.
Do you sing?
Only when no one is around…one of my favorite hobbies is belting out the tunes while driving in my car.
