Where are you from?
Houghton!

Undergraduate Major?
I am currently a double major in Exercise Science and Psychology.

What student organizations are you currently involved with?
I am on the Michigan Tech Cheerleading Team and I help out with HOSA (an off-campus organization). I also enjoy participating with the Social Dance Club.

Why did you decide to become involved with the Orientation program?
Orientation is awesome! I had so much fun when I was in it as a first-year, (and even more as an OTL). I met tons of new people, learned about the University, and learned how to be a successful student at Michigan Tech… all while having a great time! I decided to become involved with the Orientation program because I want to help make sure other students have as wonderful of an experience as I did.

What is your favorite thing to do at Michigan Tech?
Experience Tech!  I love doing everything that the new program includes: skiing, snowboarding, attending Visual and Performing Arts events at the Rozsa and McArdle, Husky Hockey games….

What has been your favorite class that you have ever taken?
Probably Adolescent Literature.  We read a lot of fun books, and discussed book banning and other topics that I hadn’t really given much thought to before.

Any advice for new students?
Get involved in as many ways as you can!  College is so much more than just going to class.  There are hundreds (literally!) of student groups and organizations that will fit almost any interest you have.  Intramural and club athletics are another great way to meet people and have fun on campus.

Do you like to sing?

I love it, but only when nobody else is around!  The steering wheel and showerhead are my favorite audience.

What’s your favorite thing about music?

I love the way it brings people together. I don’t think there’s anyone out there who hates all types of music. Talking about, listening to, or making music are great ways to bond with friends, acquaintances, and strangers.
