What is an intership and what is a "co-op"? What are their advantages?- [top]
The goal of the co-op program is to provide practical job experience for the student before graduation. Co-op's are often 3, 6, or 9 month periods when the student will work in an industry related to his or her major. College credit may be received if the company's co-op program is University approved. An internship is similar to a co-op, except that internships usually occur during the summer semester and no college credit is given. The University Career Center has much more information on these opportunities.
